Call for Volunteers: Pollinator Garden Planting

We’re looking for a few volunteers to help us plant a pollinator garden next Thursday, October 24th, starting at 12pm (going till 4pm or as long as it takes/that you can help). This will occur along Wellness Way (Hospital Alley), which is the alley by West Ave and Cannon St. A unique aspect of this project is that we’ll be re-purposing a cast iron bathtub as our raised bed.

We would like to thank Beautiful Alleys for supporting this initiative and the enthusiastic homeowners who’s property the garden will be on. This project will both beautify Wellness Way, and will provide the native plant species that support the pollinators that provide critical services like letting our gardens flourish!

Please contact Waverley at friendlystreetshamilton@gmail.com if you would enjoy helping.

An example of a garden-in-a-tub. We will plant 4 species of native plants: hairy beardtongue, scarlet beebalm, blue-stemmed goldenrod, and smooth aster. This variety will both improve local biodiversity, and flower through the spring, summer, and fall. If you’d like to learn more about native plants and help biodiversity, check out the Pollinator Paradise Project and get your garden on their map!
